About SpotLive

A small editorial team that writes about money the way we'd talk to a friend.

SpotLive Learning Hub Inc. was founded in 2024 by three writers and a former community-bank credit counselor who had grown tired of finance content that read like a sales funnel. We publish guides, calculators and a weekly newsletter from a single shared office and a tightly-edited contributor pool.

Our promise

What you'll never find on SpotLive.

Reading a personal finance article in 2026 often means dodging affiliate trackers, sponsored "explainers" and cookies that follow you across the web. We refuse to play that game even when it would be commercially convenient.

  • No paid placements masquerading as recommendations
  • No affiliate links to brokerages, banks or credit cards
  • No third-party scripts that profile readers
  • No locked-up content behind email walls
  • No guest posts, ever — every byline is on staff or a vetted contributor
Stylized editorial desk with budgeting documents and donut chart
Editorial workflow

How a SpotLive article gets to publish.

Reader question

Topics start as repeated questions in our inbox or comments. If we can't trace a topic to a real reader need, it doesn't get drafted.

Outline & sourcing

The writer pulls primary sources first, then reviews two competing perspectives. Outlines are reviewed by the numbers editor before drafting.

Numerical fact-check

Every figure is independently re-derived. Where the math is sensitive to assumptions, we publish the spreadsheet alongside the article.

External reviewer

An outside professional reads the draft for tone and accuracy. Their notes ship in the public review log linked from each piece.

Who we serve

Four reader types we keep in mind on every draft.

First-paycheck professionals

Setting up a 401(k), choosing a savings account, understanding why a higher salary doesn't always translate into a bigger take-home.

Parents planning ahead

529 vs. brokerage, life insurance basics, weighing a private school against an early retirement contribution.

People digging out of debt

Honest comparisons of avalanche, snowball and consolidation paths — including when they're a bad fit and what to do instead.

Pre-retirees

Bucket strategies, sequence-of-returns risk, healthcare cost planning and the surprising tax consequences of a paid-off house.

Funding & governance

Where our money comes from, in plain numbers.

SpotLive Learning Hub Inc. is a privately-held US corporation. As of the last published statement we operate on three sources of revenue and publish a yearly summary so readers can audit the model.

62%

Founder reserves committed at incorporation, drawn down to cover staff and infrastructure.

29%

Voluntary reader donations through our annual support drive and a "buy us a coffee" page.

9%

Speaking fees and licensing of long-form work to credit unions and community libraries.
